OPIs:

Violence

Powerlessness
Many current campuses reporting system is fragmented and unclear. Women may feel powerless against their assaulter and that there is nothing they can do to make it stop. Afterwords, the individual may feel powerless over their body and struggle with low confidence and self-esteem.
OPIs:
-
Feelings of powerlessness lead to depression, the individual may not be engaging in ADLs as frequently. Due to the decrease in energy and motivation from depression, these individuals may not feel up to performing normal hygiene routines.
-
Health management and maintenance may be impacted if the individual does not have the energy to make healthy meals. The person may opt more for fast food or take out since it takes less time and energy.
-
School performance may decrease due to overwhelming feelings of powerlessness and energy decline from depression. This could lead to the student dropping out of school
-
Isolation and limited social participation due to fear of seeing their assaulter or feeling alone in the situation
Marginalization
A female student may be marginalized if their assaulter was an individual in a fraternity/sorority or a student athlete.
OPIs:
-
Sleep participation may be affected if the student has feelings of PTSD and anxiety from situation and from marginalization from friends.
-
Social participation would be effected if the student’s friends are ignoring her or if she is being mistreated because she reported her assaulter
